The Jungfrau Express route runs from Interlaken to just below the summit of Jungfrau Mountain, which, at almost 3500 metres above sea level, is the highest railway station in Europe. The journey consists of three connecting trains, all of which have large panoramic windows to give you the best possible views of great peaks such as the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau.

Perhaps the most famous journey on our Swiss rail holidays, however, is the  Glacier Express, also known as the 'Orient Express of the Alps', which runs between the towns of Brig and Chur. As it winds its way along the valleys and mountainsides using cogwheels to travel up the steepest parts of the track, you can gaze at the magnificent views.

An Unforgettable Alpine Adventure

Explore Europe's most picturesque country in comfort in the company of one of Rail Discoveries' experienced Tour Managers, who will meet you before departure at St Pancras International to handle all travel arrangements and attend to any issues that may arise during your holiday.

The Tour Manager possesses a great deal of knowledge about each area on your itinerary and can suggest places for you to see during free days. However, if you enjoy being more self-reliant, our Tour Managers will happily leave you to explore or relax as you see fit. We will sometimes ask local guides to share their knowledge with our groups.

After travelling through the Channel Tunnel by Eurostar, transfer to the high-speed TGV service that will take you through the diverse landscapes of Europe to Switzerland. On many tours, we offer the option to upgrade to First Class rail to ensure that you are as comfortable and relaxed as possible throughout your journey.

The hotels we select for Swiss rail holidays boast a high standard of service and facilities, as well as a good location and a friendly welcome. On many tours, meals are included within the price of your holiday, as are a number of excursions. In addition, there is usually plenty of free time during the tour for you to explore independently or to join an optional excursion, payable locally.

Our holidays in Switzerland are especially popular at Christmas and New Year, when the hills and mountains are laden with snow, and fairy lights and seasonal decorations adorn towns such as Interlaken and Lucerne. Enjoy five-course gala dinners, sip warming Glühwein, browse for gifts at the Christmas markets, or enjoy a Christmas Eve sleigh ride through snowy forests.

Depending on the tour you choose, you could also find yourself en route to the town of Grindelwald in a horse-drawn carriage or exploring the warren of ice caves at the summit of the Jungfrau Mountain.

Explore Europe's most picturesque country in utter comfort in the company of one of Rail Discoveries' experienced Tour Managers. As you journey from London to Switzerland you will be able to enjoy the company of like-minded passengers whilst passing phenomenal scenery. Rail travel gives you the freedom to enjoy every moment of your time away, as during the journey to your destination you can read a book and socialise with your fellow passengers. We offer the option to upgrade to First Class rail on a selection of our train tours to Switzerland, to ensure that you are as refreshed and relaxed as possible during your break.

The itineraries of all our train tours of Switzerland have been carefully planned, to blend unforgettable rail journeys with elegant accommodation and a variety of excursions. We try to give guests an authentic taste of the places that they visit by using local guides during some activities, as they are able to share their own in-depth knowledge and life experience with our groups. During your time with us you will have the opportunity to explore the cobbled streets of some of Switzerland's prettiest towns, which are home to striking churches, quaint markets and charming cafés. View our full range of train tours in Switzerland above for more information.
