Gornergrat Mountain Railway

What to do

The Gornergrat railway in Zermatt, Switzerland. A 30-minute train ride aboard a 19th-century electric cog railway delivers you to a spectacular viewing area overlooking the Matterhorn and Gorner Glacier, at the foot of the Monte Rosa massif. Viewed on a day of clear blue sky, this is an amazing experience, especially when an ibex turns up unexpectedly to pose for a photo!

What to discover

Grindelwald, Switzerland - most travellers based here think of the nearby train to the top of the Jungfrau (and rightly so), but don't forget the cable car directly from the town to the summit of the First - a fantastic ride, particularly so after a fresh snowfall. Go towards the end of the day to avoid the crowds of skiers and have the cabin to yourself!

“Holiday was very good Bernina and Glacier express trains were excellent lots of snow going through the mountains only downside was the walk up the hill everyday although a local bus was available and having to transport cases across Paris and on to final destination

“.It was a wonderful tour, scenery was stunning, my 5 th tour overall with the Glacier Express, says it all, the Hotel at Tiefencastel was up to its highest Standard, our Tour Mgr was excellent, produced a lovely booklet which covered the whole tour in extroadinary detail which was brilliant. Overall I give this tour 5+. I am a gold Customer and will travel again in the near future.
