Day 2 - Exploring Worcester

Discover Worcester on a guided walking tour today, taking in the city's many excellent attractions. See the timberframed Tudor buildings that line the old streets, and of course, the magnificent cathedral. Situated on the banks of the River Severn, this Anglican cathedral was built between 1084 and 1504 and showcases an eclectic blend of architectural styles, from Gothic to Norman. With some free time, enjoy getting to know the city at your own pace. Perhaps stop for an afternoon tea, do a spot of shopping in the excellent boutiques, or visit the Museum of Royal Worcester to see the famous Worcester porcelain.

  • Breakfast, Dinner
Day 3 - Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway

Travel by coach to the spa town of Cheltenham and board the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway for an atmospheric journey across the Vale of Evesham and through the pretty Cotswolds' countryside. This enthralling trip showcases some of the most spectacular scenery in the Cotswolds, passing the famous Cheltenham Racecourse and offering magnificent views of the beautiful Vale of Evesham. The train arrives in Broadway, a pretty little village which is far more quaint than it's American counterpart. Broadway is regarded by some as the most beautiful village in the area, and is nicknamed the 'Jewel of the Cotswolds'. We enjoy time here for lunch; the wide main street the village takes its name from is lined with delightful independent restaurants and cafés you could visit, so you'll be spoilt for choice.

In the afternoon, you continue to the quaint market town of Moreton-in-Marsh. Enjoy plenty of free time to enjoy this beautiful little town, that is filled with history, having been a settlement since the Iron Age. Perhaps take a look at 'Ye Olde Stocks' in the centre of the town, or pay a visit to the lovely Victorian market hall, designed by Ernest George in 1887.

  • Breakfast, Dinner
Day 4 - The Severn Valley Railway

Your morning begins in Bridgnorth where you are free to explore at your own pace. The town is divided into two by the River Severn, the High Town and the Low Town. In your free time, you could take a trip on the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway. This funicular railway takes passengers up and down the sandstone cliffs that separate the two parts of the town, and it boasts the title of the country's only inland funicular line, and one of the steepest.

Next, enjoy an excursion on the Severn Valley Railway. The railway was originally completed in completed in 1862, though closed in 1963 with half the line dismantled. A group of rail enthusiasts began the task of preserving what remained of the line, and the first passenger train ran on the heritage railway in 1970. The line has remained a popular tourist attraction since then, thanks to the beautiful scenery it runs through.

The 16-mile route follows the winding path of the River Severn, offering up splendid views of remote valleys, and travelling across the 200 metre Victoria Bridge, from where you can enjoy excellent river views. From Kidderminster, you travel back to Worcester by coach.

  • Breakfast, Dinner
Day 5 - Home

After breakfast, your holiday ends and you are free to depart or continue exploring the beautiful surrounding area.

A good and interesting trip. The hotel was centrally placed and enabled us to explore the city. The train trips were very good and we saw beautiful countryside.

Hotel needs a bit of attention. Stair carpet worn on main staircase and defects in rooms. A light in our bathroom was faulty and other guests found things as well eg tv not working properly and a curtain rail off the wall. Difficult to sleep with the noise from seagulls! However the city centre location was good ,very convenient for rail travel and the bus picking us up outside was excellent. The food was good plenty of choice but portions a bit too large as we were all fairly elderly. Trips very good. Plenty of time to look around the places we visited and our tour leader was excellent .

The hotel was very good and the food good. The staff were very helpful particularly helping me with my electric scooter. Rosie Sharp, our guide, was excellent in arranging things for us going beyond the call of duty. The coach driver, Dave Harvey, was very helpful and we enjoyed the company of our fellow travellers. Even the station workers were exceptionally helpful to me, a disabled man.

A good holiday, hotel and food good. Just a bit too long in Morton in Marsh. Fortunately warm, sunny day so OK to sit around but would have been miserable if cold or wet.
