Snaefell Mountain Railway

The Snaefell Mountain Railway is a 5 mile (8km) long electric railway which connects the village of Laxey with the summit of Snaefell, the Isle of Man's highest point. During the 30 minute journey, passengers travel up gradients of 1 in 12 in delightful wooden-bodied railcars dating back to 1895. On the way up, passengers can enjoy fantastic views over Laxey Glens and on a clear day, it may be possible to see Ireland, Wales, Scotland and England. A café at the summit offers you the opportunity to enjoy lunch and the stunning views at the same time!

“A very enjoyable holiday. The hotel was very good, good room and the food was excellent. The staff could not do enough for us. Having the transport pass and the pass into museum was excellent. Our coach driver was a mind of local information. Apart for one day the weather was dry.
