Day 2 - Montecatini

After breakfast, continue to Montecatini Terme, your stunning base for the next six nights. Nestled in the undulating Tuscan hills, Montecatini Terme became known as a spa town during the 18th century. The modern town is linked by funicular railway to Montecatini Alto, its medieval Old Town. Perched on a hill and boasting incredible views over the surrounding Tuscan countryside, here you'll find wonderful history within its myriad of beautiful buildings and labyrinthine streets.

Includes
  • Breakfast, Dinner
Day 3 - Montecatini

You are free to relax at your hotel, or explore Montecatini further. Perhaps enjoy a trip on the Funicolare di Montecatini Terme. This mountainside cable car has been running since 1897, and journeys up to the Old Town of Montecatini Alto. Surrounded by ancient municipal buildings as well as a number of enticing restaurants and cafes, Montecatini Alto's beautiful central piazza is the perfect spot in which to rest awhile and drink in the atmospheric surroundings of this unique Tuscan town.

Includes
  • Breakfast, Dinner
Day 4 - Florence

Head to the Renaissance city of Florence where you enjoy a guided tour, wandering through narrow, twisting streets and admiring buildings that have inspired generations of artists. You visit the vast Duomo, whose characteristic orange dome is an icon of the Florentine skyline. The jewel in the crown of Florence, the cathedral has a history that dates back to 393 AD. You also see the unique 14th-century Ponte Vecchio, or 'Old Bridge', which is filled with jewellery and goldsmith shops. You then have free time. You could climb the 414 steps of Giotto's Campanile, and enjoy an incredible view across the rooftops of Florence. Alternatively, enjoy a coffee while soaking up the atmosphere of the bustling streets. There's also a plethora of art galleries and museums, including the world-famous Uffizi.

Includes
  • Breakfast
Day 6 - Montecatini

Enjoy another free day to explore Montecatini at your own pace. Perhaps visit the thermal baths for which the town is famous. The town has grown in popularity since the fifteenth-century for the medicinal properties of its natural springs, and nowadays the picturesque town is Italy's largest spa resort and one of the most important spa towns in Europe.

Includes
  • Breakfast
Day 7 - Siena

Today's excursion is to Siena, where you take a guided tour. The centre of Siena has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site, and for good reason. Known throughout the continent as one of Europe's most amazing medieval squares, the magnificent Piazza del Campo is surrounded by ancient buildings and crowned by the Torre del Mangia. With its many pavement cafés, the piazza is the perfect place to pause for a glass of Chianti or a cup of gelato. Siena's stunning cathedral is also a sight to behold; a magnificent structure built in white and black marble stripes that inside, is home to artworks by Donatello amongst others.

Includes
  • Breakfast, Dinner
Day 8 - Nice

Bid farewell to Tuscany as you take a coach to Viareggio for the rail journey to the French city of Nice, where you stay overnight. Perhaps take an evening walk along the glamorous Promenade des Anglais - a palm-tree-lined Mediterranean version of the Champs-Elysee. This superb seaside promenade separates the glamorous shops and hotels from the beach and owes its name to the earliest visitors to the resort as it began to be regarded as a tourist destination.

Includes
  • Breakfast, Dinner
Day 9 - London

After breakfast, board the train to Paris, where you connect with the Eurostar back to London St Pancras.

Includes
