Day 1 - Edinburgh
Our Tour Manager greets you in Edinburgh at the Ibis Edinburgh Centre. You are free for the rest of the day to explore this historic city.
Day 2 - Edinburgh and Blair Atholl
Enjoy a morning at leisure in Scotland's proud capital. Our hotel occupies a fabulous location just off the Royal Mile, which stretches from the famous castle to Holyrood. Perhaps browse the historical attractions which lie along the route. In the afternoon we travel across the Forth Bridge and through scenic Perthshire to the pretty village of Blair Atholl and our hotel for the next four nights, the 3* Atholl Arms Hotel.
Day 3 - Queen’s View, Pitlochry and Edradour
Today's coach excursion begins with a visit to one of Scotland's most famous viewpoints, Queen's View, thought to be named after Queen Victoria's visit in 1866. Enjoy the stunning lake and mountain panorama stretching out across Loch Tummel to the Glencoe hills. We spend lunchtime in one of Perthshire's main tourist destinations, Pitlochry, which nestles beneath Ben Vrackie. In the afternoon we visit the Bell Distillery in Athol Blair, where a guided tour reveals the distillery's proud heritage. At the end of the tour we taste some of the blended whisky produced by the distilliery. We then continue our journey back to the hotel.
Day 4 - Jacobite Steam Railway
Today we travel to Fort William, where we join the Jacobite Steam Train for a magnificent journey on the West Highland Line. Travelling in restored carriages, we leave Fort William, climbing past glens and into the mountains as we make our way to the beautiful west coast. We cross the famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, and descend towards Mallaig - catching sight of the Small Isles standing proudly in the Atlantic. On arrival in Mallaig, why not sample the local catch in one of this fishing port's restaurants - before making our return journey?
Day 5 - Strathspey Steam Railway
We take the spectacular mainline service through the Cairngorms to Aviemore, where a nostalgic ride on the tracks of the historic Highland Railway awaits. We join the Strathspey Steam Railway for a return journey along parts of the original Highland Railway. We then transfer by coach to Cairngorm Mountain for an excursion on Scotland's only funicular railway. After a memorable day out we return to our hotel to enjoy dinner together.
