Days 1-2

London to Hanoi

The journey begins as you depart London Heathrow on our overnight Vietnam Airways flight to Hanoi, the vibrant, bustling capital of Vietnam, arriving on Day 2. Begin exploring this enthralling country with a walking tour of Hanoi's quaint Old Quarter, then transfer to the Sunway Hotel for two nights

Halong Bay
Day 3

Halong Bay cruise

Today you experience one of the highlights of the holiday as you are transferred by private coach to Halong Bay, one of the most breathtaking natural landscapes in the world. An extraordinary assembly of over 3,000 limestone karst rock formations and islands dotted amongst the glittering emerald waters, this area of outstanding natural beauty has been awarded UNESCO World Heritage status. Take to the waters aboard a traditional junk for a cruise, enjoying lunch on board, before returning to Hanoi.

Day 4

Exploring Hanoi and overnight sleeper train

The hustle and bustle of Hanoi comes to life today as you explore on an exclusive guided tour by coach and on foot. Return to Hanoi's Old Quarter to see the legendary Hoan Kiem Lake, or the 'Lake of the Restored Sword', an integral piece of Hanoi's past and present culture. Discover the belle epoque villas and grand colonial architecture created by the French. We also see Ho Chi Minh's imposing marble Mausoleum. This evening, transfer to the station and board an overnight sleeper train for the journey to Hue on the Reunification Express.

Imperial Palace, Hue
Day 5


Arrive in the enchanting coastal town of Hue early this morning and enjoy a full day to explore. Embark on a cruise on the famous 'Perfume River' to the magnificent seven-storied Thien Mu Pagoda, the towering jewel in Hue's crown. Continue to the immense Imperial Citadel, whose impressive six miles of fortified walls contain the Imperial City, the Throne Palace and the Purple Forbidden City. Spend the night at the Pilgrimage Village Hotel.

Hoi An
Day 6

To Hoi An

Travel to Danang by train on one of Vietnam's most beautiful stretches of railway; winding through thick, verdant landscapes and emerging onto dramatic coastline, where the steep mountains tumble down to the pristine beaches fringing the South China Sea. Leave the train at Danang and transfer to Hoi An by coach, stopping en route at the Marble Mountains. A series of majestic limestone and marble formations, they are truly a wonder to behold and a favoured spot of locals and tourists alike. Then continue on to Hoi An, spending three nights at the Palm Garden Resort.

Hoi An Old Town
Days 7-8

Exploring Hoi An

Discover Hoi An and its charming Old Town on this morning's walking tour. See the vibrant local market, 400-year old Japanese covered bridge and Tan Ky merchant house. This afternoon and Day 8 are at leisure; you could speak to the myriad of tradesmen offering their wares, and you may like to take this opportunity to indulge in specially tailored, custom made clothing; a unique souvenir and a taste of the real Hoi An. This is also an ideal spot to simply relax, reinvigorate and absorb the wonderful surroundings, relaxing by the pool or on the golden sandy beaches next to your hotel.

Nha Trang
Days 9-10

Nha Trang

Leaving Hoi An, transfer by coach back to Danang Station, and continue southwards by rail. Your destination is the renowned, lively coastal resort of Nha Trang, known world-wide for its idyllic setting and beautiful bays, boasting heavenly beaches and placid and inviting turquoise waters. Check into the Novotel, located right next to the beachfront, for a two night stay. Day 10 is at leisure.

Cu Chi Tunnels
Days 11-12

Saigon and the Cu Chi Tunnels

We continue by rail to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), where we spend three nights at Liberty Central Hotel. Boisterous and chaotic, the city has a real zeal for life, which you will discover on a sightseeing tour on Day 12. This morning, visit the moving and insightful War Remnants Museum, which details the turbulent and tragic recent history of Vietnam. Continue to the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, the highlights of which include the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office and Reunification Square. This afternoon, take an excursion to the infamous Cu Chi Tunnels, a vast underground complex utilised by the Viet Cong during the war. The system stretched for almost 250km to the Cambodian border, and gives a poignant insight into the life of a Viet Cong soldier during the war period. Make your way through the multitudes of twisting and turning tunnel-ways, sit in the meal areas and meeting rooms and discover some of the weapons and methods the guerrilla forces of the Viet Cong used to defend themselves.

The Mekong Delta
Day 13

The Mekong Delta

Travel to the Mekong Delta by coach; here the enormous Mekong River splits into tributaries on its way to the sea. Board a boat for a cruise through the Delta, glimpsing the communities that make their living here, including the wonderful Cai Be floating market.

Days 14-15

Saigon to London

After a day at leisure, transfer to the airport for an overnight flight to London, where you arrive on Day 15.
