Hotel evening meals left a lot to be desired. Breakfast and packed lunches were good. Tour manager brilliant. Trips fine but train travel in Germany was dreadful. Packed like sardines on most trains, trains late or cancelled. A couple of days we had little time in the towns we were visiting owing to the disruptive train travel. Rather spoilt the trip.

Very good value as all inclusive but, though hotel food was plentiful, it was not all that inspiring. A good variety of vists were included, though the German trains were not always on time and sometimes very busy. This made for a fair bit of standing around on station platforms. A 9 euro offer to the end of June certainly did not help. Highlights for me were the Rhine cruise and Drachenfel cog railway, though I would recommend the walk down to at lest the half=way point. Interesting time in Bonn on a free day, a fsuch as riendly city with several walking tours Beethoven and city higlighs (map from tourist office) plus the Museum of German History from 1945, which is near the UN Campus station on the line to Remagen. Some displays are not easy viewing but they give an understanding of modern Germany. Tour guide Karen was excellent - knowlegable and helpful.

We were very pleased with the holiday it was all planned out although some days changed to the planned route we still did everything planned . The train journey was all as we expected but on the way back from Calone it was a free for all as the seats was reserved there as nothing to say the was but having a very good guide he sorted the seats out for us, The hotel was A1 And the staff.and as for our guide who went out of his way to make sure everyone was pleased.well done Rail Discovery

Overall enjoyable, maybe the literature could have been slightly more explicit about the physicality involved i.e. gaining. access/exit of trains with high steps to negotiate carrying suitcases .
