Lake Garda hotel awful looked like a ghetto Eating arrangements terrible (breakfast just ok) too far away , substandard quality. Unpleasant serving staff. Room in hotel poor quality dirty sanitary towel found in bathroom cupboard. Shower didn’t work, floor flooded and dangerous. All towels grey and threadbare, far too old. Trains very difficult to enter and leave. Poor walking facilities unsuitable really for public use. Tour guide quite rude. Didn’t know what she was doing. Failed to find ways through stations. Didn’t speak the languages necessary or read them. Wouldn’t accept help from fluent speakers. Was very tetchy. I had to say to her nearly everyday not to be rude to me especially in front of group and public. She was outrageously rude to Mrs Robertson and roared at her in front of everyone. Disgraceful behaviour. Lost 2 members of group because she wouldn’t listen and went the wrong way. Also left me to look after a member who was vulnerable and unwell in Verona. Left me for too long to see to him, lovely man. But I am diabetic and need to eat on time she paid no attention to my needs - I don’t think she even knew what our needs were. Hotel in Oberammergau was quite dreadful. Lifts broke down permanently. I was unable to reach the room allocated. Far too many flights of stairs everyone complained. Changed rooms but I could just about manage the hike, unacceptable, very isolated and telephone broken. The Passion Play was the saving Grace it was outstanding. I was so glad to come home. I have been on such a dreadful break. It was not a holiday in any sense. The tour guide isolated me from the other passengers by making faces about me and rolling her eyes all the time. On the last day she ensured that I had a single seat a long way from any of the other members. So I was alone and had no one to talk to. It is a shame as I had high hopes of the trip. The staff all of them in the office were wonderful beforehand. I am aware my daughter rang into the office because I was having such a miserable time, I had not asked her to do that. I wish she hadn’t. It was nothing to do with my knee . Although I felt things were unnecessarily difficult to cope with due to lack of knowledge.

Great itinerary, especially with option of upgrading to standard premier on Eurostar. Hotels variable. Dinners variable (in some cases disappointing) but breakfasts great. Oberammergau passion play astonishing - well worth the effort and the cost of getting to it. Tour manager brilliant at organising and problem solving.
