Itinerary

Day 1 - To Oslo

Your Nordic adventure begins at London Heathrow, or at your local airport, as you board your flight to Oslo. On arrival, transfer to your hotel for the next two nights. It has been awarded the title of Europe's Green Capital thanks to its beautiful parks, but this compact city is also dynamic and modern, considered the epitome of Nordic cool - with many excellent galleries, museums, theatres and restaurants.

Includes
  • Dinner
Day 2 - Oslo

Discover elegant Oslo on a guided city tour. Exploring by coach, make stops at the new State Opera House, the Royal Palace, the National Theatre and the medieval Akershus fortress. Afterwards, enjoy entrance to the National Museum, which houses the largest collection of art, architecture and design in Norway. Visit the 'Munch room', where you can admire the painter's iconic expressionist work, 'The Scream'. The rest of your day is free. Maybe head to one of the museums or galleries; the Astrup Fearnley Museum of Modern Art is a wonder to behold, with an exterior that mixes modernity with a traditional wooden aesthetic associated with Scandinavia.

Includes
  • Breakfast
Day 3 - Stockholm

This morning, we board a train to the Swedish capital of Stockholm, enjoying stunning Scandinavian landscapes on a journey that whisks you past dense, verdant forests and sparkling lakes. On arrival, check into your hotel for the next three nights before dinner at a local restaurant. Wander the streets, lined with a colourful array of buildings, as you start to get to know this intriguing destination.

Includes
  • Breakfast, Dinner
Day 4 - Stockholm

Set out on a guided walking tour of Stockholm's most famous sights. These include 'Gamla Stan', or 'Old Town', one of the best-preserved medieval centres in Europe, as well as the Royal Palace - home to the monarchs of Sweden for nearly 250 years. Next, enjoy a cruise, the perfect way to see the city's collection of varied bridges that connect the 14 islands that make up the Stockholm archipelago. Afterwards, make your way to a nearby café for a traditional 'fika' - a custom where locals make time to socialise with friends over coffee and cake. The rest of your day is free to continue exploring.

Includes
  • Breakfast
Day 5 - Stockholm

Stockholm is bursting with hidden gems, and a stroll through the heart of the city during this free day reveals boutique stores of handicrafts, antiques, art galleries and cafés. Perhaps settle down in a local restaurant to sample some traditional Swedish fare. The country is famous for its meatballs, or kjøttboller, and Stockholm in particular offers up some fantastic seafood options. For those with a sweet tooth, a traditional cinnamon bun is a must-try.

Includes
  • Breakfast
Day 6 - Copenhagen

Take the train to Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. A city which constantly ranks amongst the world's most desirable to live in, it's not difficult to see why. Boasting world-class gastronomy, including many fantastic Michelin-starred restaurants located amidst a warren of enticing narrow streets, Copenhagen is a delight to explore.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat trip from Nyhavn, passing the colourful houses, old churches and beautiful castles along the canal's banks.

The trip went well and I thoroughly enjoyed it but my concerns about the flight timings were ignored and that left a bitter taste. I lost my luggage, had to run for a connection, last on the flight, then had to wait 5 hrs on the return journey. There should have been direct flights. I’m aggrieved that they didn’t even offer to pay for my train fare between airport and the city as this had already been offered to another late guest, who also had to make their own travel arrangements on arrival. A small amount but it was the principal, penny-pinching and lack of goodwill. At least KLM paid for my essential purchases whilst my bag was delayed, but would not pay the train fare.

Great holiday, visiting Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen was a great experience. The train journeys were excellent between Oslo and Stockholm and Stockholm to Copenhagen, good scenery on each journey. Whole trip including hotels and meals provided were good value for money, would recommend to anyone. The tour manager was very good and the city guides were good and had a good knowledge of their cities.
