New Year in the Rhine Valley

Travel on the Eurostar after meeting at our Departure Office in St Pancras. From Brussels, continue via Cologne to Koblenz , where you check in to your hotel.

Take a guided tour of Koblenz today, discovering the many sights that this town has to offer. Sat on the confluence of the Rhine and the Moselle rivers, Koblenz is a delight to discover on this tour which uncovers the history and culture behind the town. Entry is included here to the Koblenz fortress. To access the fortress, you have the option of travelling up via cable car, to enjoy the spectacular views across the majestic rivers below. You also see the Basilica and the monument to Emperor William I.

Today is New Year's Eve and our excursion is a journey on the Vulkan Express, a narrow-gauge diesel train which winds its way up across bridges and viaducts from the Rhine Valley at Brohl to Engeln. Later tonight, to call in the new year, we sit down to a spectacular 5-course gala dinner to celebrate. Afterwards, you may wish to join the festivities in town.

Enjoy a day at leisure today to wander the streets of Koblenz with the start of the New Year. Perhaps make the walk along the rivers and up to the statue of Emperor William I on the Deutches Eck headland.

Today we head out into the German countryside to pay a visit to two charming towns near the banks of the mighty Rhine. Our first port of call is pretty Cochem, whose elegant townhouses are watched over by an imperial castle. Our second stop is the historical city of Trier whose impressive buildings include a magnificent Roman stone gate and a superb cathedral.

Today depart Koblenz by train for Cologne, then continue to Brussels. Here you join the Eurostar to London.
