To Weggis

Meet your Tour Manager and group at Rail Discoveries' dedicated Departure Office in St Pancras International ahead of your journey by Eurostar to Strasbourg, where you overnight.

The morning of Day 2 is at leisure in Strasbourg before you travel to Lake Lucerne by rail in the afternoon. From here you transfer by coach to the pretty village of Weggis where you check into the Hotel Central Am See.

After a leisurely start to the day, you travel by boat across gentle waters to Lucerne, set on the shores of glittering Lake Lucerne. Enjoy free time to enjoy the city, perhaps visiting the beautiful Old Town. This part of Lucerne is famous for its picturesque town squares, ornate churches, and incredibly frescoed, half-timbered houses.

Day 4 is at leisure in Weggis, and you may like to explore the surrounding area with your included Swiss Card, giving you 50% off travel fares.

Days 5-6 Pilatus

Pilatus

After breakfast this morning, travel by boat and then by rail to Alpnachstad ahead of our journey up to the summit of Pilatus on the steepest cogwheel railway in Europe. Here, there is a magnificent panorama of the incredible landscape of Switzerland, from its glittering lakes and rolling alpine meadows, to the craggy peaks of the distant Alps. Descend by cable car before transferring back to your hotel. On Day 6, you are free to enjoy this beautiful area of Switzerland at leisure.

Days 7-8 Mount Rigi

Mount Rigi and home

After breakfast, cross from Weggis to Vitznau by boat. On arrival, ascend Mount Rigi by cogwheel railway, a wonderful trip that combines the delightful nostalgia of the 'golden age' of railways, and the incredible beauty of your surrounds. On Day 8, transfer to Lucerne and rail from here to Basel, where you continue to Paris. Here, you join the Eurostar back to London, where your tour concludes on arrival.
