Day 1 - Harrogate
Meet up with your Tour Manager and the rest of the group in
Harrogate this afternoon to check in to your hotel for the next
four nights. You then have some free time to start discovering this
pretty Georgian spa town; its waters were thought to have healing
abilities by the upper-classes of the 17th century. Enjoy a walk
through the historic streets, famed for Betty's Tea Rooms and
charming boutiques, or take a stroll through Valley Gardens.
Day 2 - The Harrogate Flower Show
The highlight of your tour is today's visit to the spectacular
Harrogate Flower Show, held at the Great Yorkshire Showground.
Here, gain expert insight and advice from professionals as you
admire the stunning gardens. In spring, the event is a brightly
coloured celebration with beautiful floral displays, while in
autumn, the focus is more on produce, with an entertaining giant
Day 3 - Harrogate
With a day at leisure, you could continue exploring Harrogate
with its famous Turkish baths and wonderful parks. Or, just outside
the town centre, is the RHS garden at Harlow Carr where you can
enjoy a pleasant walk through the charming informal gardens.
Alternatively, catch the local train to visit York, a beautiful
city with Roman and medieval architecture in abundance. Take a walk
around the city walls and visit some of the main sights, such as
the magnificent Gothic Minster and the quaint Shambles, the city's
For a real rail treat, make the short journey to nearby
Knaresborough, and enjoy a journey over the extraordinary viaduct.
During your time in the town, you can visit the historic castle or
Mother Shipton's Cave, once home to the town's resident witch.
Day 4 - Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway
From scenic Bolton Abbey, take a ride on the Embsay & Bolton
Abbey Steam Railway*. This heritage train takes you through the
picturesque scenery of the Yorkshire Dales to Embsay station. This
afternoon, enjoy some free time to look around the pleasant market
town of Skipton.
*Journeys on the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway are
steam-hauled wherever possible
Day 5 - Harrogate
After breakfast, your tour concludes and you are free to depart
at your leisure or continue exploring the surrounding area.
Please note that whilst every departure of The Harrogate Flower
Show will feature the same excursions, the order of the itinerary
may differ from that given above.
On many of our UK & Ireland tours, you may check in at the
first hotel on your itinerary anytime
after 14:00; your Tour Manager will be
between 16:00 and 18:00.
However, if you are arriving later, you can meet your Tour Manager
before dinner from 19:00.
Due to the nature of our tours they are generally unsuitable for those with restricted mobility. If you’d like to discuss any particular holiday with us in this respect, then please don’t hesitate to call us.
It was a lovely holiday, with a good mix of organised and do it yourself elements.

It was a wonderful holiday overall and a lovely town, hotel and leader. The train ride one day was only about 15 mins to Bolton Abbey - a bit longer would be nice. Felt the content of that day could perhaps have been improved by adjusting what things to do.

well organised. hotel service good but room outlook poor due to wings of the hotel buildind and being almost above the kitchens
the coach and driver were good but we did not use the emergency exit which would have speeded loadind and unloadingsee
