Royal Yacht Britannia
Day 2

This morning visit the fantastic Royal Yacht Britannia. The former Royal Yacht of the British monarch was in service between 1954 and 1997, and is now considered to be one of the most popular tourist attractions in Edinburgh, where she is permanently moored. You see the opulent interior, including the fabulous State Apartments and Royal Bedrooms, the Sick Bay, and the on-board Rolls-Royce Phantom V. This afternoon you have the opportunity to explore Edinburgh at your leisure. Be sure to see Edinburgh's Old Town, with plenty of quaint shops and cafés to visit, and an abundance of off-the-beaten-path streets to discover. It is also worth visiting the National Museum of Scotland, which incorporates a wide range of artefacts that represent the national heritage of Scotland.

This morning take the newly opened Borders Railway to Tweedbank. This scenic railway is the longest new domestic railway to be built and opened in the UK for over 100 years. You arrive in Tweedbank, an attractive, large village east of Galashiels. You are free to enjoy lunch here. This afternoon you enjoy an exclusive visit to historic Abbotsford House, the former residence of poet Walter Scott. The building is now category A listed, and is surrounded by idyllic gardens. Following time here, take the coach to the Mercure Peebles Barony Castle Hotel, where you stay the next two nights.
