Day 2

This morning you arrive in Koblenz, a traditional city located in the confluence of the Rhine and the Moselle. A town with roots linking back to the Romans, Koblenz boasts a wonderful 19th century fortress, Ehrenbrietstein, which now houses a fascinating museum on the local region. Your time in Koblenz is at leisure. This afternoon, your vessel continues on through the middle Rhine Valley, a UNESCO heritage area where rolling hills, picturesque vineyards and historic castles line the shore. This evening, you arrive in Mainz.

  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3

The morning is free to further explore Mainz. Dating back to 38 BC, this former Roman citadel sits on the banks at the joining of the Rhine and Main. The city is famous for its iconic Romanesque Cathedral and the Gutenberg Museum, which charts the history of local resident Johann Gutenberg, the inventor of the movable printing press. This afternoon, return to the ship as you continue on to the wine-town of Rüdesheim. The charming town is home to some of the most celebrated vineyards in the region and remains one of Germany's most popular tourist spots.

  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Rhine Gorge
Day 4

Rhine Gorge

Departing Rüdesheim this morning, you sail on along the Rhine Gorge, passing the mighty Lorelei Rock. At 132m high, this slate rock is the highest point along the Rhine Valley and is an impressive sight to behold as you cruise past. Perhaps enjoy the stunning Gorge scenery from the ship's observation deck? The ship then passes into the Moselle Valley. Later, arrive in the twin town of Bernkastel-Kaus. Joined by a small bridge, these two picturesque German villages were united in 1905.

  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 5

Today you depart Bernkastel-Keus and continue along the Moselle Valley, past wonderful scenery of forests and rugged hills as you continue towards the ancient city of Trier, a place that is said to be amongst the oldest settlements in Germany.

  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6

You arrive first at Mehring, from where you can visit the nearby town of Trier. An ancient Roman city whose position along the river led to it prospering as a trade route, especially for wine produce, Trier is one of Germany's most popular cities. The most famous landmark here is the inspiring Porta Nigra. An ancient Roman gate that once marked the city entrance, the Porta Nigra is now the largest Roman gate complex north of the Alps and is a designated part of Trier's UNESCO protected Roman monuments, which also include the old city baths and the Roman Amphitheatre. This evening, your journey continues throught the Moselle Valley, passing illuminated villages and pretty towns en route to Cochem.

  • Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Cochem Castle
Day 7

This morning, you arrive in Cochem. Surrounded by vineyards, the town is dominated by the late-Gothic castle, the Reichsburg. There is also a preserved mustard mill first built in 1810, now Europe's only surviving example. Feel free to explore Cochem, marvelling at the old town walls and fortifications and the charming half-timbered houses that line the town's narrow streets. Afterwards, your cruise continues along the Moselle Valley by night as you return to Cologne. Tonight there is a final dinner on board.
