Launched in 2009, the Sapsan Railway runs between Moscow and St Petersburg as a high speed service. Its name is derived from the Peregrine Falcon, thanks to its fast travel time, reaching up to 250 kilometres per hour, meaning that travelling between these two stunning cities only takes 4 hours over a distance of 650 kilometres.
On the outside, the train is sleek and modern, reminiscent of the Japanese 'Bullet Trains', and on the inside, the carriages are comfortable and clean. Each economy class seat comes with an adjustable back rest, a footrest, a folding table, an armrest, and individual lighting, and there is also the opportunity to order food from the bistro (payable locally).
