Depart St Pancras International by Eurostar to Brussels then continue on to Cologne via the high-speed train. Under the spires of Cologne cathedral, transfer to a local service and travel along the banks of the Rhine to Remagen where you will spend the next four nights at the Hotel Pinger.
Day 2 - Königswinter and the Drachenfelsbahn
This morning take a leisurely boat ride to the riverside town of Königswinter, nestled in idyllic surroundings at the foot of the Siebengebirge hills. Rising above the town is the rocky outcrop known as "Dragon's Cliff". Drachenfel earned its name from the German legend of Siegfried who slew a dragon in one of the mountain's caves. Here we take a ride on the Drachenfelsbahn, Germany's oldest cog railway which leads from the bottom of the valley, up 722 feet in just one mile of track.
Day 3 - Ahr Valley
Enjoy a day at leisure to explore this beautiful region at your own pace. You may want to join today's optional excursion on a local train along the Ahr Valley, a wine-growing region famous in Germany for its secluded, old world feel. En route you stop in the quaint little town of Altenahr, before continuing on to Ahrweiler, for a wine tasting with one of the local vintners.
Day 4 - Boppard and the Rhine Gorge
O4: On your final day in Remagen, enjoy an excursion to the lovely wine town of Boppard by train. From here relax on a panoramic cruise, taking in the beautiful scenery of this renowned river and venturing out as far as the famous Lorelei rock. Returning to Remagen by rail, this evening there will be a final group dinner.
