Largely excellent but let down by transport and guide issues in Prague

The tour was very good, and with the city booklets that were supplied by the Tour Manager, (John) it was easy to navigate each city on our free days. The city tour guides were, on the whole very good, Prague could have been finished at the Castle, as it made a long day following the guide. It should be emphasized that luggage should be of a certain size and weight which can be easily managed on the trains, and be lifted onto the overhead luggage racks. The hotels were centrally situated, but the Vienna hotel was a little tired, and noisy due to the metro construction. Overall the holiday was good value for the money, and with the Tour Manager John, the holiday was a good way to see each city. Highly recommended.

A wonderful experience but be prepared for a lot of walking with cases in big railway stations and lifting cases on and off trains!

Excellent tour. Excellent Tour Manager. Flights Hotels Coach Tour Guides & Train Travel all Excellent except 1 small niggle was the local tour guide in Prague who was uninformed & unprofessional but it didn't spoil the trip because we stopped listening to him & left the tour early to do our our own thing. I believe John our Tour Manager has previously requested not to use him, so please heed that request. Wouldn't want this issue to reduce the number of stars given. 5 star trip, an excellent taster, in fact we have booked a city break to the same hotel in Prague with the Christmas markets in December. Thank you RD.

Good introduction to the cities, but the hotels were too far out of the cities necessitating the use of public transport, so time consuming. Hotel in Berlin is poor, small room, cold, thin duvet and nonexistent pillows, unhelpful staff, not enough lifts for size of hotel, although breakfast was good. Too many early morning starts and lots of hanging around, so free time was not used well. Tour guides in Berlin and Budapest were excellent, the one in Prague was awful and the one in Vienna not much better. 6 hour tour in Prague-3 hours walking and we were expected to do a 1 hour walking tour upon arriving in Vienna having left at 7.15am after a 4 hour train journey. I have previously done a Glacier Express tour with Great Rail Journeys, this last tour was not up to their standard.
